Five intimate sessions full of opportunities to bathe in blossoms and remember the
rose blooming in your heart.

Rooted with Rose is a deep dive into all things roses 
​Together, we will go on a journey of the heart and
infuse our spirits with the medicine of the rose. 
We will come together in circle and in prayer to
uplift ourselves, each other, the Earth and our human family.
We will sing, laugh, grieve, share deeply and create beauty.

We will rise up Rooted with Rose.

Our journey will include....
Rose Gardening: we will learn about organically growing, tending and caring for roses and share in a rose planting ceremony
Rose medicine & crafts: From the roses in the garden we will make hydrosols (rose water!), a flower essence, rose jerky (kind of like rose fruit leather made of petals and honey!), rose ice cream & pour rose candles
Rose Communion: each participant will commit to imbibing rose medicine and annointing oneself with rose oil every day for the 30 day journey (more details below)
Rosary Prayers: together we will harvest roses, cook the petals down into a rollable clay, make beads from that clay and each participant will craft their own rosary with those beads. We will learn to pray the rosary and carry this ancient Divine Mother lineage with us
Rose Ritual: we will sing songs together, bathe in rose water, and practice giving and receiving blessings
Rose Body Meditation: like the rose we too have roots, stems, leaves, blossoms, buds and thorns. We will connect to those different parts of our energy bodies to strengthen our whole spirit.

Rose has been around for over 35 million years.
Ancients cultures revered the rose.
She has been cultivated for over 5,000 years.
She's central to threshold honoring rituals & prayerful practices across cultures.
Her oils and waters have been prized and traded for thousands of years.
Some say she vibrates at the highest frequency of any living being.

In Rooted with Rose, Rose is our guide.
She is elder, wisdom, ancient technology.
She embodies power, grace, boundaries and courage.
  
We will get to know her medicine, admire her beauty and sing her song.
And through her, we will get to know our own medicine,
​our own beauty and sing our own song.

The Lineage of the Rosary
Rosaries are prayer beads that go far back before Christianity. The etymology of the word Rosary is rosarium, Latin for garland of roses. The etymology of the word bead is prayer. Each bead on a rosary is a prayer. The rosaries we will be crafting together in Rooted with Rose will be made of beads made of roses, they are literally a garland of roses. This ancient art is incredible to witness and participate in. In Rooted with Rose, Maayan will be teaching Hail Mary prayers in English and Aramaic (the language Jesus and Mary Magdalene spoke) and also ways to pray the rosary that follow an intuitive path.

Rose Communion
As a part of Rooted with Rose, we will be communing with rose. Over the course of the 5 week program, participants will infuse their body, mind and spirit with the rose through imbibing in rose tea and rose flower essence. Participants are invited to drink rose tea and take rose flower essence every day. Through this experience, we will be going on a plant medicine journey with the Rose to more deeply know her gifts for us.

Maayan is a mother of two beautiful children, a child of the Earth and a devotee of the Divine Mother. She tends an abundant garden where she lives at SunSong, a land-based community that she helped co-found 6 years ago. She is a ritualist, song carrier, kitchen witch, and loves to create spaces for people to connect deeply to themselves, the Earth and each other.

Maayan is a devoted rose gardener with a reverence for the ancient medicine that they carry. She has found a path of connecting with her ancestors through growing roses and praying the rosary that gives her rooted strength & peace throughout the ever-rolling and tumultuous waves of life. 

Her facilitation style is grounded, connective and personal. She has a genuine curiosity and love for people and values creating spaces that are welcoming, honest, and safe.

Full of aliveness and connected to her emotions, Maayan embodies & inspires celebration of life’s miracles while holding space for the grief that comes with honoring the tragedies of our times. She is here to support our collective healing & the remembering of the sacredness of life.

​She's human...has good days and bad days, feels all kinds of emotions, and makes mistakes.
​And she's committed to growing, like the rose.

Flower Essence workshop teacher:
Lena Eastes

​Lena is a mother, rites of passage guide, and devoted listener to the intelligence of flowers. For the past 18 years, she has stewarded Earth Path Education, guiding young women and communities through initiation, deep nature connection, and embodied ceremonial practice. Part fairy forest diva, part grounded lineage holder, her work weaves flower essence medicine, relational presence, and devotion to the living Earth. Lena will be coming to the first session of Rooted with Rose to lead us in a flower essence making ceremony.

​Rosary workshop teacher:
​Samantha Stokes

Samantha is a mother of two beautiful children and the matriarch of Rose Thunder Farm where she grows roses and basket willow. She is a skilled artisan of rosaries and amulets and has been making prayerful jewelry for over a decade. She is a weaver of beauty and words and playfulness. She'll be coming to the 4th session of Rooted with Rose to lead the workshop on crafting the rosaries and we are honored to have her!

Tuition includes:

• All workshops, activities & material/craft supplies
• Hand-outs, resource lists and song recordings
• Herbal flower tea 
• Over the course of the 5 weeks, every participants will bring home: rose hydrosol, rose flower essence, rose jerky, a rose candle, and a rosary made of hand-rolled rose clay beads and crystal beads

Our tuition is sliding scale based on income, wealth, and earning power.  This keeps our program accessible while making this work sustainable for our family.  Please choose the most appropriate tier for yourself based on the following criteria.  Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Strained Finances: $500

• ​I am unemployed or underemployed
• I rent lower-end properties, live in my car, or have unstable housing
• I am supporting children or parents which leaves not much expendable income

Stable Finances: ​ $650​

• I am able to rent or pay mortgage for an average home or property 
• I have stable employment, and healthcare
• I have some expendable income and travel occasionally

Abundant Finances: $800

• I own my own home or rent higher end properties
• My employment or inheritance allows me to live comfortably and purchase what I need
• I have expendable income​

We are aware of the effects of systemic racism and inequality in our society. Because of this, we have limited accessibility scholarships for People of the Global Majority** and other need-based individuals. 

This program is welcome to and celebratory of all human expressions of gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity. We hope to create a safe space for humans of any expression. To this end, as a community and as individuals, we are open to feedback as to how we can improve, learn, and grow.
